A ‘painfully skinny’ dog was found curled up in a woman’s driveway.

Roxy, a Dogue de Bordeaux cross, was spotted by Emma Fowler in Boxted, Essex on April 21.

Emma took the three-year-old pet to a veterinary surgery and alerted the RSPCA as they suspected she had been neglected, the BBC reported.

The RSPCA, which said Roxy weighed around 25kg less than a healthy Dogue de Bordeaux at just 29kg, has now launched an investigation.

Emma said: ‘I was shocked to see Roxy curled up on our drive but I’m glad she found a sunny spot to await rescue.

‘She looked starving and shockingly thin but she was so sweet once she realised we were friends and we were there to help her.’

Nicky Thorne, an RSPCA inspector, added: ‘Roxy is painfully skinny… It’s clearly taken a significant amount of time for her to get into this state so I suspect she’s been seriously neglected.’

Roxy was microchipped to a property in Halstead, Essex, however previous owners said she was rehomed in September 2023.

Nicky said the RSPCA would like to hear from anyone who might recognise Roxy from the local areas of Halstead and Boxted or anyone who knows someone who previously owned a dog that looks like Roxy.

She described Roxy as ‘such a sweet and friendly dog’, adding that everyone had ‘fallen in love with her’.

Earlier this week the body of a Bully dog was found cut into pieces and burnt near a children’s playground in Tottenham, north London.

RSPCA investigators were unable to identify the exact breed of the dog due to the extent of the mutilation.
