In the last two weeks, the RSPCA has received hundreds of calls from concerned members of the public regarding dogs left in hot cars.
On Monday – the hottest day of the year – two dogs had to be smashed out of a car at York Hospital where temperatures outside reached 27°C – the RSPCA is now considering prosecuting the owners.
The charity have received 625 calls about animals and hot environments – the majority of which relate to dogs left in hot cars – over the last two weeks. 167 of which were on Monday.
