RSPCA officer vanished in strong winds while trying to rescue birds

An RSPCA inspector who vanished in strong winds while trying to save a group of birds was never found, an inquest found.

Mike Reid, from Redruth in Cornwall, became the first RSPCA officer to die on duty for 180 years.

The inquest in Truro heard the 54-year-old disappeared near Porth Chapel beach in west Cornwall in February 2016.
