Horse’s tail burnt off and leg slit open after Chinese lantern landed in field

A farmer is calling for a full ban on Chinese lanterns after one landed on her horse – and burnt its tail off.

Seven-year-old Point to Point star Bastante was also left with a foot-long gaping wound on her leg after she bolted through a wire fence.

One of her owners, Sarah Sladen, said it was disgusting that the lanterns – widely used at parties and wedding ceremonies – were still allowed.
