A video of a teenager swallowing a live goldfish at a funfair is being investigated by the RSPCA after sparking anger online.
It shows the boy scoop the fish out of a clear plastic bag before putting it is his mouth as others cheer him on in the background.
The video is believed to have been filmed at a funfair in Newmarket, Suffolk, between April 2 and April 5.
It drew criticism online after being share on the Spotted in Newmarket Facebook page, the Cambridge News reports.
Rachael Raines wrote: ‘Oh dear, with no compassion for small animals is there any wonder why cruelty to other animals is on a rapid increase?’
Another Facebook user added: ‘[It is] wrong and idiotic if any of you think it’s OK for an act like this to happen.’
The RSPCA condemned the ‘unacceptable’ act and want to identify the boy so he can be prosecuted.
