A man has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty after allegedly locking his dog inside a car on the hottest day of the year.
The German Shepherd was spotted by members of the public at 12.35pm on Saturday who called police and the RSPCA when they saw there were no open windows – as the temperature soared to more than 30C.
After finding the owner, the car was opened and passers-by poured water on the dog as they waited for RSPCA workers to arrive.
