Brodie might be the UK’s loneliest dog after spending a whopping 537 days at a rescue centre.
The adorable bulldog was rescued by the RSPCA last February.
He was in a dreadful state and massively underweight after being abused and neglected by his previous owners.
After nobody stepped forward to give him a new home, the seven-year-old dog has ended up spending over 500 days at the Woodside Animal Centre in Leicester.
Since he was at the centre of an animal cruelty case, Brodie had to wait for the case to go through the courts before he could legally be adopted by someone new.
Now that everything’s squared away, and he’s back to a healthy weight, he’s ready for a new home, but sadly, he’s still being overlooked.
Operations manager Jade Burton said: ‘Staff have noticed that Brodie has gone quiet in kennels after spending so long waiting for a new home.
‘Brodie is a clever boy who learns quickly and is toy and treat-oriented.
‘He is a really loving boy who deserves a chance at happiness.’
Staff say Brodie is an energetic, loving bulldog cross and enjoys spending time with humans, but he needs medication to support him with a painful back.
Because of his lengthy wait for new owners, the shelter has given Brodie the sad title of Britain’s Loneliest Dog.
The charity says sweet Brodie could possibly live with a calm female dog, and can live with children aged 16 and over.
Do you think you can give him the home he deserves? You can apply through the shelter’s website.
