Shocking images show the injuries suffered by a defenceless duck which was kicked to death by a schoolboy. See MASONS story MNDUCK. The live bird was repeatedly kicked by the child, believed to be between 11 and 13 years old. He was wearing his school uniform when he was caught carrying out the brutal attack, before throwing the dead duck into a front garden. RSPCA inspector Rachel Smith said: ?This was a completely barbaric attack on a defenceless duck.

Two animal lovers claim they rescued a ‘healthy’ fox cub – only for it to be put down once they passed it to the RSPCA to take to a sanctuary.

Paul Smout and his friend Fiona Kelly, both 47, took the cub, nicknamed Cadno, to Haven Vets in Llanelli, Wales, after he was rescued from the side of a road on May 26.

A baby fox had to be rescued using vegetable oil after his head got wedged in an abandoned car wheel.

A resident who heard the young cub’s desperate cries behind a block of flats called the RSPCA at the weekend.

Inspector Kate Ford, of the RSPCA, found the ‘distressed’ fox with his head wedged tightly in the wheel in a car park in Leyton, east London, on Saturday.

Police looking into woman’s death find 82 chihuahuas in horrifying living conditions

More than 80 chihuahuas were found crammed into a ‘filthy and cramped’ home by police investigating their owner’s death.

The terrified dogs, who had never been outside, were discovered covered in fleas and burns in the property where they lived with their owner and her husband.

Police had launched an investigation after she died, but established that there were no suspicious circumstances.

A severely matted poodle was discovered roaming the streets after being dumped by the road in the middle of the night.

The poor dog’s hair was so tangled he could barely see as his previous owners left him to die by the busy North Circular road in north west London.

A passer-by immediately called the police after noticing the 10-year-old wandering into the road and nearly getting hit by oncoming traffic in Dollis Hill.

In the last two weeks, the RSPCA has received hundreds of calls from concerned members of the public regarding dogs left in hot cars.

On Monday – the hottest day of the year – two dogs had to be smashed out of a car at York Hospital where temperatures outside reached 27°C – the RSPCA is now considering prosecuting the owners.

The charity have received 625 calls about animals and hot environments – the majority of which relate to dogs left in hot cars – over the last two weeks. 167 of which were on Monday.

A tiny chihuahua is enjoying a new lease of life after being rescued from a home where he was living with 81 other dogs.

Sherlock was just a puppy when he was rescued by the RSPCA in April last year.

Police had discovered the dogs at the home after investigating the death of their owner, and thought were were dozens of dogs. However, when the RSPCA showed up, they found 82 chihuahuas.

Airport evacuated after rabbit bomb scare

A rabbit has managed to cause a bomb scare at an airport in Australia.

The Australian Federal Police called in the bomb squad after finding an abandoned bag in the female toilets at the airport last night.

But instead of a bomb there was a male rabbit inside the bag, wearing a red harness but no other form of identification.

AFP officers alerted RSPCA South Australia’s animal ambulance, who brought it back to the organisation’s Stepney headquarters, where it stayed in a warm cage overnight.

According to the RSPCA, the rabbit has been unharmed by the ordeal.

‘Emaciated’ horse put down after shocking neglect in muddy Cheshire field

A horse had to be put down after a welfare officer called it ‘one of the most emaciated’ she had ever seen.

The severely-neglected two-year-old cob, called Texas, was so weak when he collapsed in a horse box while being taken for treatment.

He was rushed to Leahurst Equine Hospital in Liverpool for emergency treatment but by the second day his condition had deteriorated so badly he had to be put to sleep.

In the space of a week, the RSPCA have been called to 85 cases in Wales in which people have left dogs in hot cars.

It’s a high figure but it’s nothing when you consider the fact that the charity has received 1,123 calls across Britain since June 25.

An RSPCA inspector who vanished in strong winds while trying to save a group of birds was never found, an inquest found.

Mike Reid, from Redruth in Cornwall, became the first RSPCA officer to die on duty for 180 years.

The inquest in Truro heard the 54-year-old disappeared near Porth Chapel beach in west Cornwall in February 2016.

Calls about dogs suffering in the heat quadruple in one week of heatwave

Emergency calls about dogs suffering in hot environments have almost quadrupled during the heatwave.

As temperatures have reached above 30C, the RSPCA has received 1,123 calls in one week concerning poor pets left in unbearable conditions from 25 June to 1 July.

This comes just one week after the charity urged owners to take care of their dogs after receiving 600 calls in two weeks.
