Dog dies after being left in car for four hours while owners go to Ikea

This video purportedly shows the shocking moment that a dying dog was discovered after his owners left him in a boiling car while they shopped at Ikea.

In the unverified footage, which was posted on LiveLeak, 14-month-old boxer Fidji can be seen desperately panting while a policeman smashes the car window to free the animal from his plight.

And after a bottle of water is thrown over Fidji, he is soon removed from the car.

But he had stayed in the vehicle for an agonising four hours, according to a caption accompanying the video, and died at 8PM the same day from internal bleeding – despite undergoing a three hour operation.

We already knew firefighters were heroes – but their bravery is normally confined to rescuing people from burning buildings, cats up trees and motorway collisions.

But recently, they had to turn a hose on four angry bulls as they rescue a heifer trapped between two tree trunks in Alfreton, Derbyshire.

That’s probably not going to do much to improve their mood.

A couple left their dog locked inside a car one of the hottest days of the year while they went and enjoyed a drink at the pub.

Debra Stevens said the dog was clearly ‘in distress’ when she saw it panting in the back of a car outside The Gateway in Manchester.

The dog had been ‘barricaded’ in the back of the vehicle with coats and umbrellas as temperatures hit 25C outside, she told the Mirror.

When the couple came out of the pub, Debra confronted them – but the pair laughed off her concern before getting in the car and driving away.

Millions of chicks shriek helplessly as they are thrown into a truck where they are suffocated and stamped on by men.

The footage is reported to have been secretly filmed by a worker at the poultry farm in San Miguel del Monte, Argentina.

After farming company Rasic went into decline, they became unable to feed the chicks and decided to kill them – which is apparently routine practice in Argentina.

Local papers have reported the number of baby birds killed was nine million.

How did it even get there? (Picture: RSPCA)

The RSPCA has staged a dramatic rescue from a Welsh rockface.

We don’t know if Little Bo Peep is careless about losing sheep or what, but somehow the young animal managed to get stuck 100 feet down a rocky cliff on Tryfan Mountain in Snowdonia on Tuesday.

Rescuers who saw it wanted to help, but couldn’t risk it for several days due to storms and blizzards making the attempt too dangerous.

They kept an eye on the sheep, which was clearly distressed to be in such a precarious position, far from its flock.

When the weather cleared, rescuers were finally able to abseil down and help – and… Read the full story

WARNING: DISTURBING CONTENT

Adding to the growing list of people torturing live animals ‘for the LOLs’, this guy has defended a video of himself biting the head off a live rat.

Matt Maloney filmed himself biting the rat’s head off, gagging, then downing three shots of vodka. He uploaded the clip to the ‘Mad Matts vids’ Facebook page this week.

An unidentified person then punches Maloney in the face, and another person breaks a chair on his back.

Police chiefs have said RSPCA shouldn’t be able to prosecute (Picture: BAXPKK)

The RSPCA should have its powers to pursue animal cruelty cases in court taken away, police chiefs have argued, as part of a major review of the Animal Welfare Act.

Although it has no statutory powers, the charity currently has the right to privately prosecute people and last year successfully convicted 796 defendants of animal cruelty offences.
