Tiny dogs are adorable. Fact.

They’re like Peter Pan dogs who remain as puppies forever – yours to just carry around, tickling your face with their soft, warm fur.

They’re also huge on social media – both for likes (one breeder has nearly 30,000 Instagram followers) and breeder adverts.

But the RSPCA is now warning people against buying so-called ‘teacup’ puppies on the internet for fear of over-breeding.

People have been campaigning against wearing fur for years, and we probably don’t need to explain why.

But in recent years, there’s been a similar move away from wearing wool.

It might seem like a harmless, natural material, without the bloody consequences of the fur trade. But there are downsides to wearing wool – both from a moral and comfort standpoint.

Here’s why you might want to reconsider wearing woolly jumpers this winter.

1. Sheep don’t need to be shorn

Without human interference, sheep would grow just enough wool to protect themselves from the… Read the full story

The internet went into meltdown recently at the sight of a panicking baby iguana being chased by a seething pack of racer snakes on the BBC’s wonderful new series, Planet Earth II.

Viewers shrieked at their televisions, urging the little critter on and cheering when he finally made it to safety by the skin of his scales.

But a few of us would admit to being a tiny bit disappointed at the result. Cute as the little lizard was, all creatures need to eat – and that includes the slithery ones.

Two abusive puppy farmers have been banned for life from keeping dogs after officers discovered a wheelbarrow full of dead and dying dogs at their farm.

When RSPCA and police officers searched the farm in September 2015, they came across a wheelbarrow full of what they assumed were dead puppies.

It was only as they filmed the scene for further evidence that they noticed… Read the full story

The RSPCA and the British Heart Foundation have been fined for secretly ‘wealth-screening’ millions of donors so they could target them for more money.

Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham fined the RSPCA £25,000 and the BHF £18,000 after an investigation found they hired wealth management companies to analyse the financial status of supporters.

The two charities also traced and targeted new or lapsed donors by piecing together personal information from other sources, and traded supporters’ personal details with other charities to create a massive pool of donor data for sale.

Donors were not able to consent or… Read the full story

More than 600 pets were abandoned around the festive holiday in 2015, some of them just discarded like old wrapping paper.
