Someone called the RSPCA to go out and rescue a plastic horse.

The horse had been tied to the back of a trailer by its legs, and was being towed some 100 miles from Birmingham to Cambridge on Tuesday, February 14.

Fortunately it was showing no signs of distress when rescuers arrived, because it wasn’t real.

Holly the Staffordshire bull terrier is desperate for a loving home – but people keep turning her down, because she’s a hermaphrodite.

This means that Holly has both male and female sexual organs, although she’s referred to with feminine pronouns because she has more female organs than male.

Being a hermaphrodite doesn’t affect Holly’s health in any way, however.

Her rescuers at the RSPCA shelter in Coventry say she’s as lovely and playful as any potential owners could hope.

A dog walker had a ‘surprise’ when they found an 8ft long boa constrictor chilling in a field in Banbury.

The huge snake, one of the largest reptiles kept in the UK, was curled up near a housing estate.

To be clear in both metric and imperial measures, this snake was almost two and a half metres long and weighed 12.5kg, which is almost two stone.

A farm worker faces jail after he was filmed kicking cows in the face, stamping on a newborn calf seven times and slamming a gate on a cow after telling it: ‘Fcking stand still you fcking c*nt.’

Owen Nichol, 19, admitted animal cruelty at the dairy farm today after he was confronted with footage of his abuse.

Activists from Animal Equality took the footage with a secret camera, which shows him kicking a cow which had recently given birth in the face and kicking its newborn calf.

He told the animal: ‘I f*cking hate you you little c*nt.’

A defenceless swan was killed after being shot 10 times with an air rifle.

The bird was found lying lifeless in Burntwood, Staffordshire, with a whole in his neck after the ‘prolonged attack’ on March 30.

RSPCA rescuers tried to save the swan, but he was so badly injured he had to be put to sleep.

Later, X-rays found the swan had air gun pellets lodged in his wings, chest, legs, tail and beak.

The RSPCA is now appealing for information.
